Adidas Futures interviews softball standout and former University of Tennessee student athlete Monica Abbott prior to her professional game with the Tennessee Diamonds. Some of her athletic accomplishments include a 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist, NCAA all-time victory and strikeout leader, four time NCAA All-American, Honda Award Winner for softball, and USA softball player of the year. She currently plays professionally in both Japan and the United States as well as on the United States National Team.
We were fortunate to have Monica as an adidas Futures speaker at the 2008 National Camp. She is an advocate for waiting to commit to a college until one is mature and ready to make such a key decision regarding one’s future. In fact, Monica waited until her senior year to commit to a college. Monica speaks candidly about how waiting to commit ultimately helped her in her career.
